My Fitness

I have always enjoyed playing sport and used to play a lot of tennis and table tennis before I decided to concentrate on my golf. However I still enjoy playing tennis when I get a chance and I have been playing quite a bit whilst I haven’t had any tournaments to play in. I have had been having tennis lessons twice a week to try and get my skills back up to scratch. It is quite frustrating to have played tennis to a high standard and not to be able to always play to the best of my ability.

Playing tennis, whether it be in singles or doubles provides a good workout, increasing the strength in my arms and legs, as well as improving my eye-hand coordination. Singles is a more intense activity than doubles as you have more court to cover. However both increase heart rate and burn fat, resulting in overall improved physical fitness. The competitive side of tennis gives me a challenge and improves my mental skills of strategy and concentration. As tennis is good for my overall fitness, I prefer to do something like that then go to the gym as I have much more fun.

I also enjoy skipping and I’m able to skip like a professional boxer. It is a great activity to do as it is easy to do anywhere in the world. I always take my skipping rope on my travels so I can skip whenever I like. I often use skipping as part of my warm-up and follow it up with some crunches and stretching exercises.
