Exciting week ahead

The Ricoh Women’s British Open has arrived so I am in Southport this week! They have done the tee-times and I have been drawn with two of the best players in the tournament, Catriona Matthew who is the defending Champion and Paula Creamer who recently won the U.S. Women’s Open. I am so happy with the draw as I always think it is good to play with better players and you can learn a lot from them. The only thing is that I am out at 7.14am on Thursday so it will be an early start!
I had a great week last week in France for the Evian Masters and I made the cut which was a big achievement in such a high quality field. I played well on the first day and put myself in a good position to make the cut but I didn’t play well on the Friday and I shot three over par which I thought would leave me borderline for making the cut. Fortunately the cut dropped so I made it by two shots in the end. Saturday was another struggle and I didn’t play well at all so I was in last spot heading into the final round which meant I was playing on my own. I really enjoyed playing on my own because I could just get on with my round and I flew round in two hours forty-five minutes and shot two-under so I moved up the field a bit. All in all I was happy with my week’s work.
I was given a boost last week with a sponsorship deal for the next year. Rensburg Sheppards Investment Management has agreed to support me which is fantastic as I am able to focus more on my golf with that extra help. The great thing is that Jonathan Seal who is a member of Royal Birkdale and head of the Liverpool office has been responsible for the deal so hopefully I may get a couple of trips back to Southport to play in golf days.
I played in the morning Pro-Am on Tuesday and it was great to be playing with a Royal Birkdale team. I played with the Lady Captain, her daughter and the Lady Vice Captain. My morning didn’t start too well when my courtesy car didn’t turn up to collect me because it got lost so my Auntie had to rush me down to the Golf Club. That meant I didn’t have time to warm-up and hit any balls before playing which was a bit frustrating. We started in the pouring rain but it cleared up for most of the round. We came in with a score of nineteen under par which I thought was quite good but then we found out that we had won! I’ve never won a Pro-Am before. To be honest I didn’t play great but the rest of my team played brilliantly.
I’ve had a busy week so far with interviews and I even have a stint on BBC Two tomorrow in the commentary box which should be exciting. Fingers crossed I play well in the morning!
